Resolute As Hell

I definitely worry too much, there is no doubt about that. Deciding whether the worrying is beneficial or detrimental is a tougher call. Beau thinks that I hold myself to impossibly high standards and I would be a lot happier if I just eased up. The more I try to do this, the more unnatural it feels. Being strict with myself seems to be what keeps me going. So with this warning, welcome to my world!

There have been a lot of changes in our lives in the past couple of years and I am feeling really positive about being slightly settled now. I love Heidelberg, we have cool friends, our jobs are good and the money situation is ok. And my wittle mini is so wery wunderful! Now that I am coming to terms with the fact that I will always want to better myself, and with the new year rolling out the carpet for my ambitions, I present to you my goals and resolutions.

1. Read 50 books this calendar year.
2. Get in shape and fit into my pants.
3. Take and rock the GRE.
4. Travel as much as possible. I want to see every country in Western Europe - soon!
5. Run the Berlin marathon in under 4:30.

These are the resolutions and the things I intend to do this year and to blog about. I have a lot of other small ideas and improvements I want to make, like being a better wife, and friend, and daughter, etc. I read a really great book last year called "Maximum Achievement" by Brian Tracy and I felt like it was really practical and useful (minus and few dumb chapters, but eh!). Basically, he talks about how we are all responsible for our own fate and the only way we will get to where we want to be is by setting goals and working toward them, which make a lot of sense to me. If you get in the car and start driving without a destination, you will never get to where you want to be. Instead, you pick a spot and then use a map to figure out how to get there.

I promise to not let this whole thing be about GOALS! and psychobabble, but also to include hilarious anecdotes about the stupid stuff I do and say all the time! And I may include some witty insights into celebrities fashion mistakes and geography (which I must study since we bombed out pub quiz so badly last week no thanks to JAY AND ALI!). Oh yeah, and pictures! And books! And movies!

Spread it on!
